AVCS Summer Reading List 2023

AVCS students are required to read each book listed for the grade they are entering for the 2023-2024 school year.  Students will have an activity or in-class assignment associated with the required reading text.  Students are encouraged to continue to read books of interest as well and document them on the Summer Reading Log.  Teachers will ask for reading logs in the fall.

Kindergarten- Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle; recommended:  The Beginner’s Bible by Zonderkidz

First Grade- Flat Stanley: His Original Adventure by Jeff Brown

Second Grade- The Cul-de-sac Kids: The Mudhole Mystery by Beverly Lewis

Third Grade- Judy Moody Saves the World by Megan McDonald

Fourth Grade- Maybe Maybe Marisol Rainey by Erin Entrada Kelly

Fifth Grade- Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis

Sixth Grade- Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

Seventh Grade- Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

Eighth Grade- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
